Miles's birthday

Miles (a.k.a Flash) is now 3 years old.

Before Miles opened his presents, Olivia decided we all needed to make party hats.

With the festivities out of the way, it was time to open presents. His big presents this year were Imaginext and Lego Duplo (which Miles calls "Lego Duflo") superhero sets.

As you can imagine, this made him a very popular guy.

Miles is a fun guy to have around. He's always talking, and Amber loves the way his voice breaks. Without a younger sibling, he stayed a mama's boy, and Amber's not complaining. He always needs an audience, so whichever parent is closer gets a constant barrage of "Mommy" or "Daddy" accompanied by his narration of whatever he's doing. He's a smart little guy, and I wouldn't be surprised if he starts reading early, too. And while it's kind of sad to see him not be a little toddler anymore, he's nearly ready for potty training. Not having any kids in diapers is acceptable recompense.

Superhoes

It was my turn to put the boys away last night, and this is the way they looked.

This is pretty much the way they dress every day, either in superhero shirts, or superhero pajamas, always with capes. It reminds me of how Olivia and Carmen used to be Minnie and Mickey all the time at about the same age.

Miles used to be exclusively Spider-Man, but he's branched out recently and has taken a liking to Flash, or sometime Batman. Damon is usually Superman or Batman. I'll bet you can't guess what they're going to get for their birthdays.

Trampoline

After talking about it the last couple years, we decided it was the right time to get a trampoline. We set it up over the weekend as a birthday present to everyone.

The kids were a big help, of course.

I'm not excited to mow around it, but I'm glad we got it. The kids love it, and it brought back lots of good memories from my childhood.

Carmen's school musical

We went to the elementary school to see Carmen's musical. The music teacher does a musical for each grade level, and her grade did one based on the Frog & Toad book series.

Carmen's class went first, and her big role was to peek her head out of the curtain at the beginning of the show.

She was in the front of her group and did a great job with the dance moves and singing. Here she is at the end of her number, looking very dramatic (all the smiling pics were blurrier).
