Car accident

I was driving into work in the rain and I didn't notice that the power was out to a traffic light on FM 1960 that I usually never have to stop for. A car pulled out assuming I would treat it like a 4-way stop. I swerved, hit a puddle and couldn't get back into the road before crashing into the concrete wall around the traffic pole.

Super frustrating, but thankfully I was not hurt and I didn't crash into anyone. I got the car towed and will work from home for a while until I get this mess sorted out.

I'm not looking forward to car shopping again.

Olivia's high school graduation

The school year is winding down, but Olivia is already finished. A little bit before graduation there was a celebration of seniors at the church.

Then over the weekend she officially graduated from high school.

She's planning on going to Lone Star, so we'll still have her around for a while.

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to one of the best in the business.

She didn't ask for much, just that someone else made dinner, and that she got a picture with her kids (and cat).

The Bullet

Since Olivia will be staying here for the next school year, we realized that we're going to need another car. Amber found a great deal on a car that happens to be the exact same make, model, and year as the Marshmallow, but silver, so we've started calling it the Bullet.

It's over 100K miles, but it was well-maintained by the previous owner, a college girl who was upgrading to a newer car and seemed excited that her baby was going to a teenage girl. Carmen is excited not to have to share with Olivia.

Damon's birthday

Hard to believe, but our little Damon is now 14 (and not so little).

His voice is changing and he's growing like a weed, but he's still pretty much the same old Damon. He was very happy to get a calculator, "O2" cube, build-your-own-tech kit, Minecraft piano music, Lego spaceship, and more.

And no one appreciates a Useless Box more than Damon.

New ESE playground

They recently finished a renovation of the Eagle Springs Elementary School playground. It is now airport themed, so we went there on Saturday to check it out.

It has an air traffic control tower, a couple airplanes, a cloud tower (with slides) and lots of other play features.

My favorite is the runways, which have hanging seats that slide along a track back and forth.

The kids are rapidly aging out of places like this, but I imagine we'll find an excuse to visit again.

Olivia's birthday

We officially have an adult child. Olivia turned 18, or as written with our random selection of candles, 1+9+5+3.

Her birthday was on a school day, so we didn't anything big to celebrate, but she did get some presents like beef jerky, books, clothes, and gift cards.

She's staying here to go to Lone Star next year, so we'll have her around for a bit longer, even if she is all grown up.
