Carmen's cross country season
Carmen ran cross country again this year.
She didn't take the class, which means that she has to leave morning practice early to be able to get to her first period. In spite of this, she was more consistent with training this year and improved her times over the season.
We got more involved too. We hosted a pasta night, got her a poster, and volunteered at the Atascocita meet.
She participated in six meets, but she's going to miss the district meet because of our upcoming vacation.
The team has some great girls on it, including some new freshmen that Carmen has become friends with.
Track season is coming up next!

Daddy daughter dance
The Young Women from all the wards in our building combined together to host a daddy daughter dance. I was lucky enough to get to go with Carmen.
It was movie/celebrity themed, so we walked in on a red carpet and people clapped and cheered as we entered the building. They served us a pasta dinner, then they started the music.
The girls had fun dancing together. I put in some effort to join the dancing, but most of the dads were content to stand on the sidelines. We all joined in for the line dances. Carmen decided she was done at some point, and we snuck out before the end.

Taste of the Town and Pickle Festival
We had a food-themed weekend. First, Amber and I went to Taste of the Town at the Humble Civic Center. It was fun sampling foods from all the different restaurants and we were stuffed by the time we left.
On Saturday we went to the Kingwood Pickle Festival. It wasn't too different from years past. Olivia drove herself because she had to be back earlier, but the rest of us found plenty of pickled items to enjoy.

Lego Labor Day
In what has become tradition, we celebrated Labor Day with Lego sets.
Carmen wasn't able to come with us to pick, because she was lifeguarding, but we still got her a set and she built it when she got home.
