Thanksgiving

We had Thanksgiving at the Leflers this year. We drove in on Wednesday and hung out that day. On Thursday morning, I took Carmen and Damon to a trail I found. It started at a town square in Boerne that was all set up for Christmas already.

We did a 6.5 mile run and the weather was perfect. Afterwards we cooked and did puzzles until the feast.

On Friday we went to see Wicked: For Good in the theater (Regis took the littler ones to see Zootopia 2), then we drove back that night (with a stop at the Luling Buc-ee's).

We got back in time to get some of our Christmas decorations up on Saturday.

Great Houston Pie Run

I found another fun themed 5k and Amber, Carmen, and Damon all wanted to do it with me. The Great Houston Pie Run is the Thanksgiving race of the Houston Holiday Series, and everyone gets a mini pie at the end. Also, the medal is a belt buckle.

It was a little wet and rainy, but I was still able to run a new PR, getting under 24 minutes for the first time. Damon was only a minute behind me, so it's only a matter of time before he's the fastest.

Miles's soccer season

Miles did Texas Heatwave soccer again this fall. His team was a little different this time.

They didn't win as much as the last team, but they got to the playoffs and Miles had fun.

He also felt a lot more confident, and had some great defensive plays.

Cross Country Season

Carmen, Damon, and Miles all did cross country this year.

Carmen and Damon started in August before school even started.

It was Miles's first year doing it and he did great.

I think they all were a little frustrated that they weren't as fast as they wanted to be, but I was proud of them for running their best.

Carmen and Damon finished the season with the Cross Country Banquet. Coach Earvin did a great job taking over the team this year.

Burger King Grand Reopening

After Miles's soccer game on Saturday, we decided to stop to get something to eat and arbitrarily chose Burger King. When we got there, we had a real-life Pig Will moment because unbeknownst to us it was their grand reopening, complete with characters, bounce house, and free gifts.

We got a drawstring bag and some other Burger King swag, but even better, I got a card for a free hamburger every week until the end of the year.

They were even having a raffle, but we didn't want to stay that long, so we gave our raffle tickets to another family on our way out.

Halloween

It gets harder every year, but we managed to squeeze in all our Halloween traditions. We decorated the house later than normal, maybe a week before, and carved pumpkins on the 28th.

The ward trunk-or-treat was on the 30th. Miles was a generic military guy who everyone called Napoleon, Damon didn't finish his costume in time so he used my old Hades costume, and Carmen was a Lorax tree (joint costume with her friends).

On Halloween night, we had our spooky dinner and the kids got a good candy haul from trick-or-treating around the neighborhood.
