Carmen's choir and Striker's concert

Carmen performed at the fine arts festival on Saturday. Amber took the boys to a baptism, so I took Olivia with me to watch Carmen. The choir went first.

They sang lots of good songs, but I especially liked that they did the internet song, It's Raining Tacos.

We had a short break between performances, so we looked at the booths and artwork, then headed to the band side. While Carmen was warming up, Olivia and I watched another school do one of the most bizarre performances I've ever seen, where they chanted nursery rhymes, played xylophones, and spun in circles, twirled parasols, and probably other weird stuff I've been lucky enough to forget.

Thankfully, that image was jarred out of our heads by the Strikers. Carmen did a great job.

Damon's musical

Damon was very excited about his musical, because he played the major role in his class's performance.

He got to be Ned, whose head sticks out of bed.

All the other kids in his class were other characters that annoyed him in various ways while he tried to sleep. Finally, after they were all done, the narrator says that they're going to sing a "mega mix", and that's when Damon got to give his big line, "Can a guy get any sleep around here?", to plenty of laughs.

He was also center stage for the mega mix itself and did a great job.

Another great musical!

Easter

We dyed Easter eggs on Saturday.

We thought it might be fun for Grandma Brown to join us, so we called her on the Portal and she got to watch.

As always, we had lots of interesting eggs.

On Sunday after church, the kids found out the Easter Bunny had visited and the race was on to find their baskets.

Some of them were cleverly hidden, but all were found eventually.

It was a beautiful day, so we enjoyed being out on the patio, eating candy and playing with toys.

The collapsible knives were a big hit.

Lamb of God

Our stake decided to organize a performance of Rob Gardner's The Lamb of God. Amber went to a few practices knowing they'd need violists, but then realized that it might be good for Olivia, too. Despite just starting this year, she went to the remaining practices and had a great experience. The performance turned out great.

Spring Festival

The neighborhood spring festival was rained out, but they still had the Easter Bunny giving away Easter eggs at one of the clubhouses. Amber and Olivia were at Lamb of God practice, and Damon was at a birthday party, so I took Carmen and Miles.

It only took a few minutes, just take a picture and get some eggs, but they were happy to get something at all.

Miles's musical

We went to our last Frog and Toad musical.

Miles did a great job singing his class song.

He knew all the words and the hand motions.

He was very excited about being on the stage, and definitely wanted a picture with Frog's house at the end.

Brothers

We had the fun coincidence of having two of my brothers visit within days of each other. Jason and Warren were both on independent work trips to Houston and made time to come to the house on Monday and Thursday.

We fed them a home-cooked meal and had fun playing games and chatting until they had to get back to work.
